Collage: a technique of an art production where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.



Sepia Toning: specialized treatment to give a black-and-white photographic print a warmer tone

Selenium Toning:  popular archival toning process which converts metallic silver to silver selenide. In a diluted toning solution, selenium toning gives a red-brown tone, while a strong solution gives a purple-brown tone. 

Duotone: Halftone reproduction of an image using the superimposition of one contrasting colour halftone (traditionally black) over another color halftone.The most common colors used are blue, yellow, browns and reds.

I'll be focusing on metallics such as gold and silver, but not just jewelry. Silver paint, mirrors, gold facials, or elements in nature with metallic colors and sheen would be fantastic for me to find too.

Weekly Vocab



1. Flash Lamp: lamp designed to produce extremely intense, incoherent, full-spectrum white light for very short durations, primarily used in photography to illuminate a dark setting



2. Arc Lamp: lamp that produces light by an electric arc (also called a voltaic arc); originally made of carbon but now primarily made of tungsten and used as a basic flash

3. Yablochov candle:  type of electric carbon arc lamp, invented in 1876 by Pavel Yablochkov

4. Triptych: A work of art (usually a panel painting) that is divided into three sections, or three carved panels, usually hinged together and foldable
