Weekly Vocab

Light - Emitting Diode (LED):  a two-lead semiconductor light source; often used in traffic lights and on the brake/headlights of cars. Its multitude of bright color capacity makes it ideal for displays such as this:

Infrared (IR): electromagnetic radiation with longer wavelengths than those of visible light; often used in thermal imaging and space imaging devices

Photodetector: sensor of light or other electromagnetic energy

Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC): a type of thermographic camera which renders infrared light as visible light, allowing firefighters in particular to see heat through smoke, darkness, or heat-permeable barriers. They are typically handheld or helmet-mounted
